I am so excited because for the very first time, my 3 kids are I are going for our first Kids Run!
Last November, I ran my first 5km fun run in the GE Women’s Run 2014 and totally fell in love with it. XX and YH saw how I enjoyed it and told me they would love to join me as well. So this year, we are taking part in the Cold Storage Kids Run 2015 as a family, joining 3 categories altogether!
Cold Storage Kids Run has been held consecutively for the 8th year and response has been always overwhelming. The idea is to promote healthy living and get the kids off technology to have some outdoor exercise. This year, it is held at
The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay on 17 May 2015
As long as you have children from age 6 months to 12 years old, you can take part in any of the 13 categories! The highlight of the run is on 3Gen Family Fun Run whereby 1 grandparent + 1 parent + 1 kid will be running, jogging, walking or strolling to cover 800 metres distance. How fun that will be to have 3 generations bonding over a healthy outdoor fun event!
XX and YH will be participating in their respective age group competitive races.
XX will be running for 1.6km and YH will be running for 800m race!
YT is too young for 3Gen race to my disappointment. But I am still excited about it because we will be participating in the parent and child 800m race.
When I first told them about this kids run, they were spontaneous to participate in competitive (sprint) race instead of non-competitive family run. To be honest, I am rather worried if they are able to handle the long distance, especially for XX. This year happened to be her first NAPFA test in Primary 4 which includes a 1.6km jog too. But she reassured me that her hectic volleyball training in school has trained her well enough and she is confident of completing the race. For YH, I do not have much worries as I feel 800m will be a fairly easy feat for the super active boy.
As for my little toddler, I have no worries that he and I will be walking and running and maybe even carrying him for 800m too. I am sure it will be a fun run for all of us. Oh, then the hubby would have no child partner to join in the race. Well, he is happy to be a photographer for us and to take care of the elder kids in different flag off times.
