Baking with kids – Easy Peasy Butter Cookies

I always make a point to do some kitchen activities with the children during school holidays, like the time when I taught them to cook from young in simple dishes. I will do it more frequent with the kids but you know, there is limited energy after work and weekends are usually outdoors. And over one long weekend 2 weeks ago, I decided to do a first time baking for myself and first time baking with the kids.

I never had an oven. And one wrong concept is I thought that oven has to be in-built which we did not have it when we moved to this house, and portable ovens are too expensive for my limited baking. Then a close girl friend told me that ovens nowadays are very affordable and it is worth a small investment just to have fun baking with the children. So, I went to scout for one cheap oven and this oven cost me less than $100!

Well, I can treat it like a toy to have fun with the kids. And guess what? The moment the oven arrived, the hubby made these: Continue reading “Baking with kids – Easy Peasy Butter Cookies”

When blogging becomes a jealousy affair

Tonight, our bedtime topic with the kids revolves around blogging.

Me: Maybe I should stop blogging…
Children: Why Mummy?
Me: Because Mummy feels that my original blogging purpose is being overtaken by other factors… like… (hard to admit, but I did) jealousy and competition and overexposure of our personal life.
Children: Why don’t you just write in our book diaries…?

I love conversation with the kids. They are so simple.

I don’t know about other parenting bloggers, but from time to time, I am affected by other bloggers getting THAT invite, THAT sponsor, THAT chance on media.

Why did I even expect fame? Continue reading “When blogging becomes a jealousy affair”

Children’s Seasons 2015 @ National Museum

June holidays are here! One of our most anticipated activities for our kids for this holidays is the annually held Children’s Seasons. This year, the theme is still Masak Masak, built on childhood games, but with totally different games to play.

To understand and appreciate how the Children’s Seasons are put together, you need to know the artists’ introduction of their installations. This year, there are 10 installations by six local and four international artists to feature familiar childhood games and interactive exhibits. Remember to read the introduction near each installation.

Spoiler-alert! I will share some fun exhibits and games that my kids enjoy. Oh, just a note that Masak Masak is suitable for kids 4-7yo although I would think my 3 yo-to-be toddler did enjoy himself and my 10 yo gal is beginning to appreciate the art too.

This oldie round swing greeted us at the big lawn outside National Museum.

After thoughts of Cold Storage Kids Run 2015

On the night before the Cold Storage Kids Run 2015, the kids set their alarm clocks and went to bed slightly earlier than usual without complaints. The next morning, their alarm clocks went off at 530am, and they walked into my room quietly. Wow! What independence! No cries, no whining, and on auto-mode, they washed up, ate breakfast and waited happily to get out of the house. For no reason, the toddler woke up earlier than all of us and asked for milk. So, no kids needed to be dragged out of the bed and for once, we left the house on time!

Keep Calm and Mother On

You would have known by now I write many posts on my challenges as a mum of 3.

I am happy to share that I am invited to contribute to the parenting book called “KEEP CALM AND MOTHER ON” by Pauline Loh, the editor and Armour Publishing Pte Ltd.

Keep Calm and Mother On

This is not a yet-another-parenting-book but a book that shares 21 mum’s stories and these mums have kids ranging from 1 year old to 21 years old, from babies to National Service Men (Grown up Kids). These authors are well-known mums which include award winning author, Emily Lim, The Straits Times Deputy Editor Clarissa Oon, Founder of Pat’s Schoolhouse Patricia Koh and many inspiring ladies.
