Frozen Yogurt Birthday Party @ Toa Payoh

Frozen Singapore 2
Frozen Birthday Party for my boy??

No, no. Not that Frozen disney princess show.

We have found a great place for a birthday party that comes with Frozen Organic Yogurt and you will never thought of where this gem is tucked in this neighbourhood – TOA PAYOH! Another great find in Toa Payoh after my post on the Petit Bateau shop in the same place.

This year, my boy turns 8. He had a small request to invite his close friends to his party and yet did not want to be stressed over who to play with if we invite them to our house party with his many cousins. So while I was cracking my brain to think of how to host 2 parties, one for the classmates and one for the family, the wonderful mummy network in his class gave me the idea of this Frozen yogurt cafe. He has a few close friends who happened to have their birthdays a couple of days apart from each other and within 2 weeks, 2 mothers and I decided to put up one birthday party for 3 kids. Combining the parties means that we do not have to party hop within the same weekend. Also, it helps to  share out the stress of hosting a party and all 3 of us were happy that this was one of the most relaxed party we have ever hosted.

Frozen by A Thousand Blessing Singapore, the yogurt cafe is a 2 storey shophouse. While many yogurt cafes are springing up all over Singapore, not many of them sell organic yogurt. This is a Melbourne Continue reading “Frozen Yogurt Birthday Party @ Toa Payoh”

The Animal Resort – Kampong experience

Tuck away from the bustle and hustle of usual Singapore streets is a small farm in its simplicity.

If you are looking for some Kampong feel, with chickens running around at your feet, and seeing your kids babbling to little animals, you must visit this place – The Animal Resort.

The first time we brought the little ones here was 5 years ago. And lately, we visited this place once again to let the children come close to nature and feed the animals.

When you enter the gate of The Animal Resort, you will feel that you have come to Singapore in her early days in a rural setting.  The unmistaken animal smell tells us that we are in the right place. We always come on a weekend, and we see many families bring their children to experience the Kampong life here.

There is an open hut that offers tired legs a rest and others to enjoy some old style coffeeshop snacks. Over here, you get to buy food to feed the animals, selling $2 for 3 packets of feeds. You get to choose “2 legged animals” feed or “Horse, rabbit and guinea pigs” feed among a few more types of feeds.

Upper Peirce Reservoir

This is one of our favourite places to go – Upper Peirce Reservoir.

Places like this are rare in bustling Singapore. But parents like us, will constantly look out for interesting and out of the way playgrounds, fun places just for our little ones. Anyway, Lower and Upper Peirce Reservoirs are not new but just rather inaccessible than most other Reservoirs in Singapore by public transport.

As Kel drove slowly on the long road into the Upper Peirce Reservoir, the kids were always thrilled to see many monkeys – grand monkeys, mummy monkeys, sister and brother monkeys, and baby monkeys clinging onto their mummies suckling their nipples, as well as monkeys picking out lice from other monkeys’ backs.

And almost each time we are there, we see inconsiderate people stopping their cars or vans and throwing food to the hoards of monkeys who seem to recognize their samaritans’ vehicles. As if they had been anticipating and waited for a long time, they scrambled towards the vehicle and catch their daily “supply”. There are many notices along the road and in the park that tell people not to spoil the monkeys’ natural instinct of finding food for themselves. Sadly, there are still people who choose to remain uneducated on this.

Just before reaching the Reservoir, there is this long steep road down where the kids always pretend they are going down on a roller coaster in our car. I simply love this moment. We also see many avid cyclists pedal hard up this slope as they defy gravity with strong lean legs.

Upon reaching the Reservoir, there is a long breakwater which kind of divide the Reservoir into 2 parts. On one side is the water catchment area that oversees a big park. The other side is our favourite where there is a very steep grass slope leading to a vast green field.

We walk along the little dirt track road leading to the lower grounds and to the low lying waters.

Don’t you love the tranquil setting of this place? Continue reading “Upper Peirce Reservoir”
