Poolzies shoes for little feet under the hot sun + {International Giveaway!}

Poolzie5

Singapore is a sunny island and over here, it’s a common sight to tip toe around the poolside under the scorching hot sun. The floor is burning hot. Often, we endure the scalding sensation to our soles when we cross from one pool to the next. So, when we have kids, we ferry them from one kiddie pool to the next by carrying them off the ground. But, how about water play with slides and all on the rooftop of shopping centres? We can’t be ferrying them around from one slide to the next!

And you can bet my excitement when Poolzies founder offered their Pool shoes for little feet to run about under the sun and on slippery floors! It is such a brilliant idea and I wonder why didn’t anyone thought of this before? Continue reading “Poolzies shoes for little feet under the hot sun + {International Giveaway!}”

Learning Chinese – 3 things that parents must know to help your children

Learning Chinese in Singapore seems to be more difficult than anywhere else. Well, I am not really comparing with learning Chinese in Japan, Korea, etc. However, in an environment or country where Chinese is a mother tongue to majority, why is this subject so hated by many children and their parents.

I wonder why.

It has probably to do with parents here speaking lesser Chinese and more English at home to their children. Hence, compared to China where Chinese is spoken daily, every minute, every second, we speak a mix of English and Chinese and use simple Chinese words and limited vocabulary.

I was told by Eeva Chang (张美香), (the educator and principal of Eduplus who is also engaged by MOE as a trainer for 8 years to teach all school Chinese teachers in Singapore), that children will face a drop of marks in Chinese once in Primary 3 and once in Primary 5. At least an 8-12 marks down.

Why??? Continue reading “Learning Chinese – 3 things that parents must know to help your children”

Festive Hotel entrance

We had a really enjoyable time staying in Festive Hotel early this year. Why is this so? Basically, it is really worth our money since we did nothing in Resorts World Sentosa except to stay in the hotel room and play in the pool for the 3 days we were there. It is truly a STAYCATION! Taiwan Home Stay – Bramasole 埔里桃米民宿‧布拉姆索民宿

Bramasole

It has been about 4 years since the last time we travel as a big family together with our parents. I love bringing our parents to travel and want to do this as much as I can while they are still healthy to travel with us. 3 weeks back, we went to Taiwan, in particular, Taichung with the kiddos and grandparents. I chose to stay in a Home Stay and this was our first Home Stay experience in Taiwan with the entire family of 9. The idea of staying in a complete stranger family’s house made me nervous especially when I felt responsible if the experience was to turn out unpleasant. But my fears were unfounded.
