June Holiday Activities List 2014

It is the first school holiday which will see both my school-going kids stay home together for an entire month. I have never done up an activity list for the school holidays. And since I am researching for activities to occupy their time, I might as well consolidate my finds here. (Most of the images have links to more information, remember to click on them.) Hope this is useful to many parents out there. And if you do have interesting ones, I would love you to tell me in the comments and I will add to the list! Good things have to be shared! 🙂

Learn moral lessons at Haw Par Villa 虎豹別墅

Haw Par Entrance 2

There is a place that teaches moral values, moral lessons and Chinese classics through the form of sculptures in Singapore. This place is nonetheless Haw Par Villa 虎豹別墅. To many whom have not been to this place and heard that it is a boring place would have been missing out on a good and unique learning experience. The moment anyone mentions Haw Par Villa, the first thing that comes to mind must be “The Ten Courts of Hell”. This is the villa’s best known attraction and likely to be one of a kind in the world. This attraction features gruesome depictions of Hell in Chinese mythology and Buddhism. No one leaves Haw Par Villa without feeling humbled by the hell scenes. SMB Blogger Event 2014

I follow many blogs locally and internationally. One of my favourite is Nicole from Planning with kids. She is an inspiration. She juggles her household with 5 kids and has a successful blogging career. She upgrades herself and motivates readers with her disciplined routine tips. One of the annual event she speaks at is the Australian Problogger Event where experienced international speakers share on their expertise on blogging. Reading about the Problogger event always have me thinking whether we do have one in Singapore that will benefit bloggers like me to learn and be motivated in blogging. So, it was a much unintentional thought that came to mind and before I realized what I was in for, Rachel, one of the SMB founders, asked me to organize one for the SMB (Singapore Mom Bloggers) community where the speakers are our very own SMB mums!

It soon became an honour for me to hold such a highly anticipated event and most likely Singapore’s first Blogger Event for Bloggers!! Continue reading “SMB Blogger Event 2014”

Ice-skating in Singapore – The Rink at JCube

During the March School Holidays, we went to The Rink at JCube with the cousins. If you do remember that I mentioned we had 3 days of fun when I took off from work, the first fun place I shared was Amped Trampoline and the second was canvas painting at Rush-Me-Not Art Studio. This was the third fun activity that we brought the kids to. We wanted to go to the FEO free playground at Gardens by the Bay (have not checked that out yet, but sure to go soon!), but it was raining, the second day of rain after a long drought in Singapore! So, we diverted our plans in the car and drove to the ice-skating rink. If I had more days off, I would have planned more places to go. Who ever says Singapore is boring?

The Rink
The Rink is located at JCube in Jurong East, the western part of Singapore. Continue reading “Ice-skating in Singapore – The Rink at JCube”
