Week in Life of a Blogger Mum – @ Kids ‘R’ Simple

It intrigues me how other mums and dads spend time with their children and run the household at the same time. Reading the many awesome blogs before me in this blog train, I have nothing but admiration for these blogger mums and dads. Being parents isn’t easy, with hardly time for ourselves, and we can still find the time to blog and even participate in this blog train! If you hear a blogger mum/dad say that blogging is his/her hobby, please please please do trust him/her. If there is no passion, no one blogger mum/dad will be able to sustain spending gruelling hours of blogging at unearthly time at the expense of sacrificing sleep and energy.

Remember the last time I blog on my Daily Routine as a FTWM 2 years ago? Now, things have changed a great deal mainly because the house chores part is taken care of. I need not fret over changing the bedsheets weekly, washing the bathrooms, washing dishes, mopping floor and washing clothes every evening and before work. However, it doesn’t mean that with a helper now, I am leaving everything to her. Some things I still insist on doing by myself, especially when these things concern the children. I still insist on waking up at 6am just to be the one to kiss them awake, make breakfast for them, ensure they finish their breakfast and see them off to school. I will wash their favourite bolsters and stuff toys by myself. I stitch up the duckie’s torn off wing, fix their toys, cook their favourite dishes. So, having a lived-in helper really is not replacing me as a mummy, but freeing up time so that I get to reserve my energy and spend the limited precious time with my children after work and on weekends.

Weekdays are days of routine and weekends are days for flexibility, relaxing and for family bonding. When it comes to blogging, I usually do it out of sight of the children. After all, blogging is the least important task in a day and it is more of an indulgence which I can only do during limited slots of me-time. I blog early in the morning when the kids go to school and before the toddler is awake. I blog during commuting. I blog while waiting for my kids to finish their art class. I blog after the kids go to sleep.

SMB Blogger Event 2014

I follow many blogs locally and internationally. One of my favourite is Nicole from Planning with kids. She is an inspiration. She juggles her household with 5 kids and has a successful blogging career. She upgrades herself and motivates readers with her disciplined routine tips. One of the annual event she speaks at is the Australian Problogger Event where experienced international speakers share on their expertise on blogging. Reading about the Problogger event always have me thinking whether we do have one in Singapore that will benefit bloggers like me to learn and be motivated in blogging. So, it was a much unintentional thought that came to mind and before I realized what I was in for, Rachel, one of the SMB founders, asked me to organize one for the SMB (Singapore Mom Bloggers) community where the speakers are our very own SMB mums!

It soon became an honour for me to hold such a highly anticipated event and most likely Singapore’s first Blogger Event for Bloggers!! Continue reading “SMB Blogger Event 2014”

My Best Blog Posts in 2013

I have started my blog since 2011, however, only since August 2013 have I started getting active in the blogging community. It’s a wonderful thing to be able to do what you like and know many other like-minded bloggers at the same time. Reading the thoughtful comments and even encouragement from my readers during some down period really touches me greatly. I wish to, from time to time, thank my readers in various ways. Now, here is one way where I consolidate my 5 best posts in 2013 to thank you again! Why 5 posts you might ask? I think 10 would be too long a list and end up boring you to scroll quickly to the last number! So, here’s your votes and favourites! Continue reading “My Best Blog Posts in 2013”

My very first blogging award – The Versatile Blogger

When I opened up my blog in the morning, I was surprised beyond words!  I have been nominated the Versatile Blogger!  I can’t believe anyone would even have thought of me worthy of any award!  Thank you very much Michaela for bestowing this award upon me! Thank you so much!  You made my day!  A sincere thank you to all those who have been following my blog and liking my posts and leaving constructive comments.  You are the ones who make my blogging experience heavenly.  I have known many many wonderful friends like you out there.  To know that there are people reading my blog and liking them enough to follow it, make me strive to write better posts each time.

Now, with the award on my blog, I will have to do the following as a way to thank and be thanked, hopefully!!

1. Display the Award Certificate on your website/blog.

2. Announce your win with a post. Make sure to post a link back to me as a ‘thank you’ for the nomination.

3. Present 15 awards to deserving bloggers.

4. Drop them a comment to tip them off after you have linked them in the post.

5. Post 7 interesting things about yourself.

7) If I could turn back the clock, I would choose the same man and have the same children.  This is one sure thing that I have never ever regretted in my life.
