How we celebrate our Chinese New Year

Oh, how I love Chinese New Year! It’s my favourite holiday other than Christmas. But the DAY which I love best is Chinese New Year’s eve! This is the busiest day mixed with hard work and happy reunion dinner.

Why hard work? In the days coming up to the Chinese New Year (CNY), we will be busy cleaning up the house. It’s a traditional practice to throw away old stuff and welcome the new things in the new year. A good excuse to give the house a brand new look with some new furnishings and re-decoration of the house. Some of the old stuff in good condition are donated which makes the big clean up a more worthwhile project to work on. Continue reading “How we celebrate our Chinese New Year”

Starting Primary 1 and my laid back attitude towards grades

I remembered how XX started her first day of school 2 years ago. It seems like yesterday. And this year, it is YH’s turn to go to Primary 1. That reminds me of his first day in childcare when he was 3, and now 4 years later, he is a grown up boy, still a mummy’s boy in my eyes, starting formal school.

Just like how XX did, YH settled pretty well in his first days in primary school. I was surprised at his relaxed attitude on the first day. It wasn’t this way during the orientation organized by the school. He clung on to me and was not too keen in meeting new friends then. That got me a little worried. My Little Toddler at 16th month

My baby has become a toddler! Now I am beginning to miss his baby days! It’s been 3 months since I updated his progress at 13th month. My Little Gem is 16 months old now. The major development here is striking out his first step at 14th month. It’s a great development milestone for him. Even though it’s late, we are still super proud of him! Don’t all mums feel proud of every milestone no matter how small it might be? Continue reading “My Little Toddler at 16th month”

Chinese Enrichment Holiday Camp @ KidStartNow + Giveaway!!

I have never sent my kids to academic enrichment classes before. However, I had once let XX join a 3-day Math holiday camp during a school holiday period because I did not want her to waste her time at home doing nothing much. Also, I believe holiday camps are fun and kids are bound to enjoy the learning-through-play camps. When YH had the opportunity to attend KidStartNow’s story-telling themed Chinese enrichment holiday camp, I was really happy and Continue reading “Chinese Enrichment Holiday Camp @ KidStartNow + Giveaway!!”
