Characteristics of an 8 year old and Strategies to handle them

My girl XX is soon to be 9 years old. She is a pretty young lady and baby at the same time in my eyes. Which kid does actually grow up in their parents’ eyes? Just 9 years back, she was just a cuddly cute thing in our arms and now she is 3/4 my height. She still enjoys much of everything a baby loves, yet, she has her own opinions and is starting to strike out the first step out of our protective arms. How to improve your child’s Chinese

Chinese books

After I published a post on my children’s school system, an SAP school which emphasizes greatly in Chinese traditions and values and everything Chinese, many parents wrote to me to ask how I manage to engage my kids’ interest in the Chinese language. To be honest, we started off easier than most parents whose kids are struggling with this language. We are a Chinese speaking family. That reminds me of his first day in childcare when he was 3, and now 4 years later, he is a grown up boy, still a mummy’s boy in my eyes, starting formal school.

My Little Toddler at 16th month

My baby has become a toddler! Now I am beginning to miss his baby days! It’s been 3 months since I updated his progress at 13th month. My Little Gem is 16 months old now. The major development here is striking out his first step at 14th month. It’s a great development milestone for him. Even though it’s late, we are still super proud of him! Don’t all mums feel proud of every milestone no matter how small it might be? Continue reading “My Little Toddler at 16th month”

I wish I may, I wish I might, have these resolutions to last 365 nights..

It’s the start of the new year! It’s time to reset everything, forget unhappy moments in the past year, and look forward to starting anew in the new year!

On New Year’s day 1st Jan 2014, I tried to have a happy day to start off the year on a happy note. I tried to avoid scolding the kids on that day. I tried to forget about my blog (I was busy thinking of what to post for the brand new year). I tried to ignore all sorts of notifications on my Samsung mobile (wordpress, facebook, whatsapp, thank god I do not have twitter). I tried to be a good yummy mummy (a smiling, soft spoken and pretty mum). Yes, the key word here is “tried“.
